title: SWOP
description: The desktop program that does what the website cannot — generate wallets, send tokens and sign contract interactions, with the key never leaving your machine.
---

SWOP is a Windows program you run on your own computer. It is included with the subscription.

It exists because of a deliberate gap in the website. The site reads public addresses and holds no keys, which makes it safe but also means it can never move anything. Everything that requires a private key happens in SWOP instead, on your machine.

## What it does

**Create or import a wallet.** Generate a new wallet, or import one you already hold — including a paper wallet, by typing or scanning the key.

**Generate at scale.** Produce one wallet or a hundred in a batch, when you need a set of fresh addresses.

**Export as a printable card.** A wallet can be exported as an image with QR codes, designed to be printed. This is how a paper wallet is produced: generated offline, printed, and never stored digitally.

**Send ERC-20 tokens and ETH.** Build and sign a transfer locally, then broadcast it.

**Interact with smart contracts.** Staking, presales and any contract call that needs a signature — the operations normally only available through a browser wallet that holds your key.

## How the key is handled

The key is entered on your computer and used there. It is not transmitted anywhere, and **everything is erased when you close the program**.

That is the reason for the separation between the two products. A website that could sign transactions would need access to a key, and any such access is a target. Keeping signing on a local machine removes the server from the problem entirely.

> [!WARNING]
> Entering a private key is always the moment of highest risk, wherever you do it. Only run SWOP downloaded from the official page, on a machine you trust. Siade Whales will never ask for your private key through the website, by message, or by any other channel.

## Languages

SWOP is translated into more than 40 languages, including right-to-left scripts.

## The SWOP page

**SWOP** in the navigation menu opens its page on the site. From there you can:

- **Download for Windows** — the current version, with its size and **SHA-256 checksum** to verify it
- **Download Whales OS** — the bootable USB image, with its own checksum
- See the **languages** SWOP is available in
- Follow **Getting started**: download and open, create or import a wallet, operate

SWOP is free for members.

What it offers, as the page lists it:

- **Create or import** — a fresh wallet, or one you already own. Your keys stay on your PC
- **Generate at scale** — one wallet or a hundred in one go
- **Export a paper wallet** — public address, private key, recovery phrase and QR, ready to print and keep offline
- **Operate on Ethereum** — send ETH and ERC-20 tokens, check balances, set the gas, sign and broadcast
- **Token-risk flags** — every token scored **Safe**, **Verify** or **Malware**, so you do not sign away funds to a scam or spam contract
- **Zero-persistence** — close it and everything is wiped: keys, history, sessions, even the language you picked
- **Always the latest** — SWOP checks for new versions when it starts and takes you to the newest one

## Installing

Download from the SWOP page on the site. The build is portable — there is no installer. Download it, launch it, and it runs.

Verify the file against the published checksum before running it. The page provides the checksum alongside the download.

## Whales OS

Also on that page: a bootable USB image.

It boots a clean system from the USB stick, with the machine's installed operating system untouched and offline. For generating a wallet that must never touch a connected computer, this is the strongest option available without dedicated hardware.

It ships with its own `.sha256` file so you can verify the image before writing it to a stick.

## Versions

SWOP checks for updates against the site. New versions are mandatory rather than optional: when one is released, older builds stop and prompt for the update.

This is intentional. A version that handles keys should not be left running once a newer one exists.

## The source code

SWOP's source is published at [github.com/siadewhales/swop](https://github.com/siadewhales/swop), under a licence that permits reading and testing but not redistribution.

It is public so that anyone handing a private key to a program can read what that program does with it.
